Collection: Gitzo Tripods

Let's talk Gitzo.

Gitzo tripods are organised into a number of family and by Series.

Series is a measure of the diameter of the top-most leg section of the tripod. The diameter of the top-most leg section of a particular series is the same as the 2nd from top leg section of the next series. For example, the diameter of the top leg section on a Series 2 is the same diameter as the 2nd from top leg section on a Series 3. So we can see that as the Series number goes up, so too does the sturdiness of the tripod.

The 3 Families are Traveller, Mountaineer and Systematic.

Traveller are distinguished by legs that fold up 180 degrees around the head for a compact profile - great for minimising packed length. They are available from Series 0, 1 and 2
Mountaineer are what most people consider a "normal" tripod and feature a center column which can be raised and lowered to adjust the height. They area available in Series 1, 2 and 3.
Systematic feature a wide "spider" (the piece at the top which the legs connect to) with a removable top plate. Optional centre columns and video bowls are available to configure the tripod for a specific task. The standard plate is ideal for mounting a gimbal for large lens work.
