Gitzo developed the revolutionary Leveling tripod for photographers who need fast set up and leveling accuracy. Inside the Leveling tripod’s upper casting is a special free-rotating ball, similar to those normally used in our ball heads. The center column passes through this ball and can be inclined in any direction at any angle up to 15°. The inclination and vertical movements are completely independent. This patent pending system is extremely useful for panoramic, architectural and wild life photographers or for bird watching. It allows the user to set the camera or scope perfectly horizontal easily and quickly when working on uneven ground. Leveling tripods are available in two heights, eye level and standard. All new Leveling tripods feature important improvements over previous models. The upper casting is now modified with an additional third leg spread angle for an ultra low position that takes full advantage of the Ground Level Set. The center column is removable and the upper disc can be fitted directly to the upper casting. The Leveling feature also works in this Ground Level configuration. The upper disc is also new for all the Leveling tripods. The Power Disc now features two locking screws, one for the column and one for the head, granting a rock solid connection of the whole system. Also, removable rubber feet and column hook assembly have improved with a self locking system that avoids accidental loss. All Leveling tripods feature G-Lock, our leg locking system that increases system rigidity by 20% and allows quicker and stronger leg locking. G-lock is very important for shooting performance since it eliminates any possible give in the locking mechanism that may reduce image sharpness. All Leveling tripods come with a convenient anti dust bag for storage and packing. This textile bag is also an answer to environmental protection aiming to reduce the amount of plastic bags that global industry is introducing into the environment each day. | | | The upper disc on newer models is upgraded to the Power Disc version. Made of machined aluminum, beside the Safe Lock material and the locking screw for the column, it includes an additional locking screw for the head, ensuring a rock solid connection. The disc can be mounted directly to the tripod top casting (Ground Level Set feature). The 1/4”-3/8” reversible screw has been redesigned for more reliable functionality. | | The upper casting is now modified with an additional third leg spread angle for an ultra low position that allows you to take full advantage of the Ground Level Set allowing for ultra low shooting angles. The leveling feature also works in Ground Level configuration. | | | Open the tripod, leaving the center column down. Loosen the leveling system locking knob. Adjust the center column inclination to get it level - for reference use the built- in bubble spirit level. When the column is correctly leveled, tighten the locking knob. Slide the center column to the required height. |
